Partha J Das
Dr. Partha J Das is an Environmental Scientist with more than 15 years of research experience in the fields of hydrometeorology, water resources management, climate change, disaster risk mitigation, water conflict and transboundary water governance mostly in the Brahmaputra River Basin in India. He has carried out 20 research and action research projects funded by various national and international donor agencies. He has about 20 publications comprising research papers in national and international journals, technical reports, monographs and edited books. He has edited two books, one on sustainable natural resources management and the other on water conflicts in northeast India. Dr. Das is presently working as the Head, ‘Water, Climate & Hazard Division’ in Aaranyak, a front ranking environmental NGO of the country. The ‘Community Based Flood Early Warning Project’ carried out in Assam under his leadership and in collaboration with the Internal Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Kathmandu won the prestigious ‘Lighthouse Activity Award’ in 2014 from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Bonn, Germany (under Momentum for Change Programme). Dr. Das works closely with communities as well as Government and non-Government agencies with a mission to promote environmental sustainability, security and equity for marginalized people and endangered ecosystems.
